Per Diem Representative, Patient Access I, LAK-ONLY, Friday and Saturday Shift

Job Summary:

UCI Health is seeking a Per Diem Representative, Patient Access I to join our team. As a key member of our patient access team, you will be responsible for interviewing and gathering complete and accurate demographic data to complete the registration process efficiently and expeditiously.

Responsibilities:

  • Interview and gather complete and accurate demographic data to complete the registration process efficiently and expeditiously.
  • Follow EMTALA regulations, not acting on insurance until the medical screening exam (MSE) is complete.
  • Collect appropriate monies after the MSE is complete and obtain authorization for treatment and/or admission.
  • Obtain appropriate signatures on all registration forms, and scan the appropriate forms.
  • Complete insurance verification on accounts, and break down charts for the appropriate departments.

Requirements:

  • One year Hospital or related experience.
  • CPI Training within six (6) months.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical terminology.
  • Previous Emergency Registration experience.
  • Basic knowledge of EMTALA and triage procedures.
  • Computer and typing skills.
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.

Physical Requirements:

  • Hearing and visual acuity.
  • Manual dexterity to perform keyboard functions.
  • Ability to push wheelchairs.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
