Job Description

All for Health, Health for All, Inc. (AFH) is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center and certified Patient-Centered Medical Home. Our mission is to eliminate disparities in access to health care for the underserved multi-ethnic diverse population. We provide general family practice, pediatric care, mental health, and behavioral health services, as well as adult day health care services.

We are currently recruiting a Full-Time Medical Assistant for one of our Las Vegas clinics. This role involves assisting the provider with procedures, preparing exam rooms, and maintaining accurate patient documents. You will also be responsible for cleaning and restocking exam rooms, notifying patients of lab results, and participating in training and quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare exam rooms for patient visits
  • Assist the provider with procedures and exams
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient documents
  • Clean and restock exam rooms
  • Notify patients of lab results and medication refills
  • Participate in training and quality improvement activities
  • Ensure complete and accurate registration, including verification of demographic and current insurance information
  • Assemble information concerning the patient's clinical background and referral needs
  • Contact review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met
  • Review details and expectations about the referral with patients
  • Assist patients in problem-solving potential issues related to the health care system, problems with insurance coverage, or social barriers such as interpretation or transportation needs
  • Identify and utilize community and cultural resources suited to patient populations
  • Ensure referrals are addressed in a timely manner

Qualifications:

  • Proof of acceptable and appropriate training as deemed by the Medical Board of California
  • Exceptional human relations skills
  • Pediatric Experience
  • Ability and willingness to work with people regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or disease state
  • Ability to maintain a friendly attitude with patients and staff, especially under pressure
  • Able to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to speak, understand, write, and type English as well as having basic math and spelling skills
  • Experience a minimum of 3 years
  • Experience with ICD-10 codes and EMR System
  • Bilingual in Spanish
