The Texas Rangers are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Area Scout to join our scouting team. As an Area Scout, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating draft-eligible prospects in your assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and Evaluate Talent: Establish a track record of identifying the best talent in your area and prioritize which players to target from regional and national levels.
  • Document and Analyze: Document detailed notes on each experience with prospects, including their talent, skill, and makeup. Analyze data and video to gain a deeper understanding of each player's abilities and potential.
  • Build Relationships: Establish contact and build relationships with players and their families, including in-home visits and virtual meetings.
  • Research and Gather Intel: Research detailed information from coaches, teachers, teammates, and opponents to gain a comprehensive understanding of each player's background and makeup.
  • Write Scouting Reports: Write clear and concise scouting reports that accurately summarize your findings and project each player's future potential.
  • Present Findings: Present your findings to the Regional Supervisor in a clear and objective manner, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each player.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in scouting or a proven track record in the field.
  • Passion for Baseball: Strong passion and demonstrated knowledge for the game of baseball.
  • Process-Driven: Ability to work in a process-driven environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff members.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel up to 70% of the time.
