The Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in the operating room, ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are available and prepared for surgical procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of surgical techniques and aseptic practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • First Scrub Role: Demonstrates advanced expertise in the first scrub role during surgical operations.
  • Aseptic Technique: Applies comprehensive knowledge of aseptic and surgical methods.
  • Professional Conduct: Exhibits responsible behavior and professionalism in a healthcare setting.
  • Patient Needs: Recognizes and addresses variances from expected surgical outcomes and adapts to patient requirements.
  • Instrumentation Knowledge: Possesses advanced understanding of anatomy and anticipates the necessary instruments for each surgical step.
  • Operational Efficiency: Facilitates the surgical process by proactively addressing the surgeon's needs.
Qualifications
  • Certification: Basic Life Support certification required upon commencement.
  • Registration: Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration in Virginia at the time of hiring, with completion required within six months.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience as a Surgical Technologist or equivalent.
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent is necessary.
