Position Overview:
We are currently looking for a qualified Psychiatrist to join our team. This role involves working within a correctional facility, providing essential mental health services to a diverse inmate population.
Essential Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Psychiatry
- Board Certified Psychiatrist
- Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties in accordance with accepted psychiatric standards and comply with relevant Federal and State regulations. Ensure adherence to the standards set by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and the American Correctional Association.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and provide treatment recommendations.
- Prescribe medications from the approved Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Formulary.
Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate anxiety, while submitting reports and evaluations as needed. Follow all directives and comply with institutional policies regarding patient management.
- Ensure equitable access to treatment for all patients, regardless of background. Maintain communication with the Chief Psychologist and Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) regarding patient care.
Inmate Interaction:
- Provide services with frequent and unsupervised contact with inmates, ensuring compliance with institutional rules for safety and well-being.
- Attend orientation programs prior to engagement in institutional activities, with reimbursement for training time at the contract rate.
- Report any violations of institutional rules by inmates to the appropriate government personnel.
Institutional Security Compliance:
- Adhere to all regulations for the safety and conduct of inmates, maintaining accurate medical treatment documentation in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974.
- Sign in and out of the institution for accountability, wearing identification at all times.
