Position Overview:

Our esteemed client is seeking a Casting Process Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in enhancing the manufacturing capabilities and product design processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessments of manufacturability for new casting designs and recommend suitable equipment and tooling.
  • Provide guidance on design for manufacturability (DFM) to assist product design teams effectively.
  • Initiate, execute, and summarize simulations related to metal casting processes.
  • Deliver and defend technical evaluations of casting designs to both internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across various regions to facilitate casting development, launch, and production enhancements.
  • Travel may be necessary to support manufacturing facilities and participate in industry-related events.
  • International travel could be required for training purposes during the initial employment phase, based on experience.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years in casting process engineering or simulation.
  • Experience in high-volume production foundries specializing in light alloy castings is preferred.
  • Familiarity with other manufacturing processes related to metal casting is advantageous.
  • A formal education in engineering or materials science (bachelor's degree or higher is preferred).
  • Proficient in casting process simulation software, with MAGMAsoft being preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) and/or Low Pressure Die Casting (LPDC).
  • Solid understanding of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) methodologies.
  • Capability to operate Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for reviewing and making minor modifications.
  • Ability to independently resolve problems, with formal training in problem-solving methods such as Six Sigma being a plus.
  • Familiarity with automotive components and systems, including their design and functionality.
  • A proactive self-starter who can manage multiple projects with competing deadlines efficiently.
  • A collaborative team player who works well with others, both in-person and remotely.
  • Proficient in computer applications, with scripting and coding skills being a plus.
  • Fluency in English, including the ability to read and write complex technical documents.
  • Proficiency in German and Spanish is an advantage.
