Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Beacon Health System. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to create diagnostic images, communicating with patients, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient history to ensure patient safety
  • Select technical factors to optimize image quality
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and make adjustments as necessary
  • Maintain knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
  • Perform appropriate protocol based on diagnosis
  • Adjust the protocol based on exam ordered and any pathology seen
  • Clean and maintain equipment
  • Report any malfunctions of equipment to supervisor
  • Perform protocol exam with reading radiologist
  • Explain the steps of the MRI procedure to the patient
  • Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients
  • Administer safety precautions related to magnetic field
  • Maintain safety in the magnetic field during exam
  • Start IV for contrast media injection
  • Safely administer contrast based on ACR recommendations
  • Participate in on-call coverage on a rotational basis
  • Orient and train new MRI staff
  • Work with Job Shadow, students, etc. to familiarize them with MRI
  • Keep room adequately stocked with linens and supplies
  • Verify all written orders prior to beginning procedure
  • Enter accurate exam information into Radiology Information System
  • Obtain patient history so that proper procedure may be performed
  • Complete all steps to ensure that images are on the PACS and ready to read
  • Enter accurate exam codes so proper charging is accomplished
  • Scan all pertinent documents into patient file in PACS
  • Film images as requested and ensure quality
  • Perform post-processing functions (MIP, Medis, Cadstream, etc.)
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department
  • Complete other job-related duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree (or equivalent certificate) in Radiography or MRI
  • Current CPR certification
  • Registry with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists as a Radiographer or MRI
  • Familiarity with MRI equipment
  • Familiarity with human anatomy and cross-sectional anatomy
  • Limited nursing skills and sterile techniques
Working Conditions

Works in a hospital office and patient care environment

Requires lifting and pulling of patients from beds to exam tables
