Key Responsibilities:- Conduct lubricant evaluations for various clients, adhering to ASTM testing protocols.
- Perform fuel assessments for clients, utilizing both on-road and dynamometer testing methodologies.
- Ensure safe execution of fuel and lubricant testing by following established safety practices and adhering to Environmental Management and Quality Systems.
- Operate engine test cells using computer systems for data collection to assess lubricant and fuel performance, as well as engine durability.
- Maintain clear communication with colleagues, supervisors, and project engineers regarding testing progress.
- Assemble and disassemble gasoline and diesel engines in accordance with testing protocols.
- Support operational equipment by assembling and disassembling auxiliary pumps and motors.
- Prepare and label fuel and lubricant samples for laboratory analysis.
- Utilize scanners for various vehicle makes and models; maintain test logs, time records, and project documentation; perform tire maintenance; modify fuel systems for specific tests; disassemble vehicle components as necessary.
- Remove and install critical engine components such as cylinder heads, transmissions, and fuel tanks; conduct automotive fluid changes; perform comprehensive maintenance on various vehicle models; assist with departmental project activities as needed.
- Input collected data into a database; carry out routine engine maintenance tasks.
- Uphold a clean and organized work environment while complying with safety regulations concerning hazardous materials during testing operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Preferred qualifications include Automotive Mechanic or Certified Master Mechanic credentials, an Associate's degree, or ASE certification, along with a CDL License.
- Willingness to work shifts is necessary.
- A minimum of 5 years of vocational or commercial automotive or diesel mechanical training or relevant mechanical experience is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel and Word.
- Overtime may be necessary based on project demands; candidates should be prepared for exposure to solvents, gasoline, diesel, and coolants.
- A valid and clear driver's license is mandatory.
