Key Responsibilities:

The RN Hospice Evaluator will assess hospice care facilities across the United States. Surveyors with qualifications in other healthcare provider categories may also have the chance to engage in non-hospice evaluations with HMS if they express interest.

The Evaluator will conduct assessments in alignment with the State Operations Manual (SOM) and will compile a deficiency report following the Principles of Documentation (PoD) and the HMS Master Writing Guide.

The Hospice Evaluator will relay their findings through the established Quality Assurance framework. They will pinpoint areas for enhancement in the evaluation process and effectively communicate these opportunities to the relevant leadership personnel. The Evaluator should be prepared to accept assignments as required by CMS and HMS.

  • Extensive travel is expected, with all arrangements made to minimize out-of-pocket expenses.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting CMS evaluations is mandatory.
  • Completion of required CMS training for various provider types.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Capability to perform all necessary tasks as required by the facility.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Current RN License is essential.
