We are currently in search of a dedicated full-time Freight Car Maintenance Specialist

We seek collaborative team members to assist us in providing superior railcar inspection, maintenance, and repair services to our clientele. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to interpret technical drawings, perform repairs in compliance with regulatory standards, uphold safety and quality benchmarks, and maintain comprehensive repair documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out all assigned tasks under supervision
- Conduct detailed railcar inspections to ensure regulatory compliance
- Perform repairs while adhering to safety and quality protocols
- Manage mechanical repairs on various types of freight cars
- Assist with welding tasks as needed
- Coordinate and complete repairs in a timely manner
- Maintain a tidy work environment and report any hazards
- Engage effectively with team members and supervisors
- Meet client expectations and deliver outstanding service
- Ensure precision in repair documentation and invoicing
- Participate in safety evaluations and inspections
- Follow safety regulations and protocols
- Support safety initiatives and committees
- Perform any additional assigned responsibilities
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to follow written guidelines
- Safely operate machinery and tools
- Dependable and punctual
- Basic understanding of railcar systems
- Proficient in using hand and power tools
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Willingness to obtain necessary certifications
- Experience in welding or mechanics is preferred
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Work Environment and Conditions:
This position requires working both indoors and outdoors under various conditions. The role may involve working at heights and using fall protection equipment. Personal protective equipment is necessary based on environmental factors.
- Physical effort is required, including lifting up to 35lbs
- Transporting equipment to perform tasks
- Working safely on top of railcars
- Adherence to safety protocols is essential
