Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool Shop Supervisor to join our team at S&C Electric. As a key member of our manufacturing operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of our tool shop, ensuring smooth operations, and supporting our diverse team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Leadership: Provide leadership support for the department, including administrative tasks, issue resolution, and resource coordination. Supervise and guide the team to ensure job orders and daily metrics are met.
  • Tool Room Operations: Oversee and guide team members on tool room processes and workflows. Coordinate with department leaders and cascade best practices down to team members through team leads. Support production schedules, production rates, and capacity plans.
  • Quality Management: Enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet company standards. Support initiatives to improve product quality and consistency. Set and maintain high levels of product quality.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Promote safety awareness and housekeeping. Investigate and report on safety incidents. Maintain a safety-conscious manufacturing environment and enforce health and safety policies.
  • Reporting: Create production and status reports. Communicate with upper management regarding production issues. Report issues regarding production, quality, maintenance, or personnel to function leadership.
  • Leadership & People Management: Uphold a professional work environment. Address minor conflicts and foster teamwork. Monitor team tasks and provide feedback. Recognize and acknowledge team achievements and guide team members toward growth opportunities.
  • Budget Support: Support the Manager in overseeing the department's budget. Provide recommendations and review expenditures.
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline, Operations, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in tool & die or other related fields, including team leadership experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of tool & die work, including mechanical knowledge, tooling function, tool maintenance, and processing.
  • Solid critical thinking, organizational, planning, and project management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships and navigate conflict.
  • Great communication skills, including written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills.
  • Adequate financial management skills to support budgetary decisions.
  • Good analytical skills to use and analyze data to drive informed decisions.
  • Proven success partnering across teams and collaborating at an operational level.
  • Adapts to change and different ways of doing things quickly and positively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Tool & Die Certification.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience using Oracle HCM and Microsoft Office Suite.
