The Educational Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting classroom teachers and enhancing the learning experience for students with diverse needs. This position is integral to fostering an inclusive educational environment where all students can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
The Educational Support Specialist will be responsible for the following:
- Collaborate with certified educators to support the instruction of students with disabilities.
- Provide instructional assistance under the guidance of special education teachers, ensuring compliance with educational standards and individualized education plans.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials in partnership with teaching staff.
- Facilitate supplemental activities that reinforce learning objectives.
- Engage with parents and guardians during meetings to discuss student progress and needs.
- Encourage student participation and interaction with peers in a supportive manner.
- Implement appropriate modifications and accommodations to enhance student success.
- Assist in maintaining classroom order and adherence to behavioral expectations.
- Support classroom record-keeping and the operation of educational technology.
- Contribute to the upkeep of classroom displays and materials.
- Assist in supervising students during non-instructional times, such as lunch and recess.
- Provide one-on-one support to students as needed.
- Assist with personal care needs for students, following appropriate training and guidelines.
- Adhere to all district policies and ethical standards, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.
Qualifications:
A valid Paraprofessional License is required, along with the appropriate endorsements for working with students from Pre-Kindergarten through Age 21.
Compensation:
Salary and benefits are determined according to district contracts.
