Job Title: Environmental Engineering Intern

Envicon Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Engineering Intern to join our team in the New York City Metropolitan Area.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented individual to assist in environmental compliance projects, perform regular field observation activities, and support the development and implementation of environmental designs and policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in environmental compliance projects, with a strong focus on NYCDEP and NYCDEP Office of Environmental Remediation (OER) projects.
  • Perform regular field observation activities, prepare daily reports, and complete related construction documentation to ensure all remedial construction activities meet regulatory criteria for New York City agencies.
  • Support the development and implementation of environmental designs and policies, and assist regulators in enforcing relevant state, local, and federal regulatory requirements and reporting criteria.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform physical tasks to maintain field equipment and fulfill onsite responsibilities, including lifting up to 50 pounds, as required during daily field activities.
  • Prepare and maintain onsite documentation such as daily/weekly field reports, trucking log, design submittal reviews, waste manifests, SWPPP qualified inspector reports, weekly CAMP logs, and other project specific documents.
  • Implement Community Air Monitoring Program (CAMP) including the operation of associated monitoring equipment and prepare daily reports to OER.
  • Perform Weekly Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) qualified inspector reports.
Qualifications:
  • Must be currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or other related fields.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in varying degrees of weather conditions.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred to effectively communicate with all members of the project team.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required to operate and maintain field equipment.
  • OSHA 40 Hr. HAZWOPER Safety Training Certificate
  • OSHA 10 Hr. Construction Safety Training Certificate (required as a condition of employment, training costs to be reimbursed upon hire).
  • Ability to report to work consistently and during the hours of 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.
  • Available to start immediately or within two weeks (max.).
Additional Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication and report writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, other industry-related certifications, and/or previous internship experience in civil or environmental engineering a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, or other related software is a plus.
