Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled MV Switchgear Field Service Technician to join our team at Vertiv. As a key member of our field service team, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support and maintenance services for our medium voltage electrical switchgear and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of E+I Engineering medium voltage electrical switchgear and related equipment.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with customers, coworkers, sales representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the operating conditions of equipment and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Interact comfortably with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Manage one's own schedule and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Perform general and preventive maintenance on switchgear and related equipment.
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide timely support to customers.
  • Strive to provide a 'first time fix' for customer equipment.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external customers.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and laws.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of timecards, expense reports, and other relevant information.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with medium voltage switchgear or field services.
  • Training in electrical theory and technologies, with experience and/or prior military service performing applicable job duties.
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals.
  • Reading schematics and blueprints for power control, automation, and related systems.
  • Power distribution, AC/DC, voltage circuit theory, and practical troubleshooting skills.
  • Background in electrical power, including medium voltage, and experience with most types of switchgear testing.
  • Experience with programming PLCs and HMIs.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Standard computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to consistently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, bending, and twisting.
  • Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders) and driving (car, van, truck).
  • Extreme cold (below 32*) and extreme heat (above 100*) temperatures.
  • Noise level (medium/high) requiring shouting to be heard.
  • Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts, tractors).
  • Protective equipment required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.).
  • Work outdoors with no effective protection from weather.
