Join the Army National Guard as an Emergency Response Specialist and take on a vital role in safeguarding lives and property. This position allows you to be a hero in various situations, whether on the battlefield or in your community.
Your primary responsibility will be to protect lives and mitigate fire hazards in diverse environments, including buildings, aircraft, and maritime vessels.
As part of your duties, you will gain expertise in operating essential firefighting apparatus and vehicles, providing first aid, and addressing hazardous material incidents. This includes:
- Utilizing pumps, hoses, and extinguishers effectively
- Conducting rescue operations in vehicles and structures
- Driving emergency response vehicles
- Administering care to injured individuals
Additionally, you will conduct fire hazard assessments, educate others on fire safety protocols, and maintain firefighting tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute rescue and firefighting missions during structural fires, aircraft incidents, vehicular emergencies, and natural disasters
- Assess aircraft, buildings, and equipment for potential fire risks
Skills You Will Acquire:
- Strategies for combating various fire types
- Operation of firefighting tools, first aid techniques, and rescue methods
Essential Qualities:
- Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations
- Willingness to face danger to assist others
- Capacity to think critically and act swiftly
Through comprehensive training, you will acquire the skills and experience necessary for a rewarding career in firefighting within your local community. Additional certifications may allow you to pursue roles such as fire inspector, fire investigator, or fire safety consultant.
Compensation During Training:
In the Army National Guard, you will earn a salary while you learn these essential skills, along with eligibility for tuition assistance.
Your training will encompass 10 weeks of Basic Training to develop foundational soldiering skills, followed by 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. This training will combine classroom instruction with practical fieldwork.
