With over 15 years of service in Southern California, we strive to empower immigrants and their families.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to join our team. The selected candidate will work closely with a managerial supervisor to deliver essential self-help services to non-detained adults and families. Key program services encompass legal orientations concerning removal proceedings and available legal relief, as well as intake and follow-up services, self-help workshops, and referrals for pro bono legal assistance or social services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitating Friend of Court services during hearings.
- Providing mentorship and supervision to interns and volunteers.
- Establishing and maintaining participant case files.
- Connecting individuals with social services.
- Creating and refining legal program materials and presentation methods.
- Enhancing access to legal counsel through pro bono referrals.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate degree.
- Active bar admission or awaiting bar results (California state bar preferred, but not mandatory); relevant experience in legal settings, particularly in immigration or public interest law.
- Strong skills in organization, case management, legal research, and legal writing.
- Proficiency in Spanish is required and will be assessed during the interview process.
- Ability to take initiative and perform under pressure.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative spirit.
- A genuine passion for advocating social justice for immigrants and vulnerable communities.
