Patient Access Representative

As a Patient Access Representative at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless patient registration processes. Your key responsibilities will include verifying patient identities, reviewing schedules and physician orders, scanning important documents, and entering demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, they should have demonstrated proficiency in computer keyboarding skills and knowledge of third-party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding, and medical terminology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient identities and select the correct patient record
- Review schedules and physician orders to register patients for the appropriate service
- Scan important documents such as insurance cards, ID's, Living Wills, and POA's
- Enter demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record
- Explain and collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances
- Perform transactions securely
Education and Certification:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree can be considered in lieu of two years of experience
