Job Summary

An Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the nursing discipline, ensuring students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in their chosen field. The Instructor will teach day, evening, and online programs, catering to traditional and dual-enrolled students. This role involves classroom, lab, and clinical instruction, with a focus on providing a supportive learning environment.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and deliver curriculum in accordance with academic standards, ensuring students meet learning objectives.
  • Utilize current technology to enhance the learning experience, promoting student engagement and interaction.
  • Evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to facilitate growth and improvement.
  • Grade coursework in a timely manner, maintaining academic integrity and fairness.
  • Ensure a safe and secure learning environment, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with students, staff, and educators to discuss instructional programs and address student needs.
  • Maintain program certification and accreditation requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant accrediting bodies.
  • Prepare and maintain administrative reports, documentation, and records.
  • Stay current with industry trends and developments, applying this knowledge to enhance teaching practices.
  • Participate in professional development training, workshops, and conferences to stay updated on best practices.
Curriculum/Student Learning Outcomes/Accreditation
  • Develop program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives, ensuring alignment with academic standards.
  • Prepare lesson plans, incorporating current research and industry best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty to establish, measure, and evaluate program or departmental student learning outcomes, promoting continuous improvement and success.
  • Submit reports and data to accrediting bodies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review and edit master course shells in the online learning platform, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Supports Program Chair/Program Director/Division Deans/Associate Deans
  • Request and maintain necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring a functional learning environment.
  • Prepare budget requests, aligning with program needs and priorities.
  • Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts, promoting student success and career advancement.
  • Serve on committees and project assignments, contributing to the development of academic programs and services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the overall mission and goals of the institution.

Work Environment

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products, supplies, and instructional books and technology up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time instructional position, with a work load of Monday-Friday day/evening hours. Weekends may be required based on need.

Travel

Travel to other campuses and clinical sites is a requirement for teaching assignments, meetings, trainings, and professional development.

Required Education and Experience
  • A minimum of an Associate Degree in Registered Nursing from an accredited institution and demonstrated competence/experience in the teaching discipline.
  • Valid Georgia RN license and current BLS (CPR) Certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in the past 7 years.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Registered Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Teaching experience in postsecondary education.
  • Recent teaching experience.
  • Online teaching experience.
Salary/Benefits

Salary range is commensurate with previous work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, vacation, retirement, personal and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
