Job Summary

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization seeking a highly motivated and organized Senior Web Designer to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. As a key member of the iDeas Lab, you will be responsible for designing and developing advanced-level digital products, including websites, dynamic data visualizations, and interactive tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop deliverables, including sitemaps, wireframes, and full-fidelity visual comps, to communicate information architecture and interactions to research partners.
  • Collaborate with developers to mockup and review data visualization UI and color palettes.
  • Work closely with clients to identify their objectives and audiences, developing a product vision and strategy.
  • Lead on strategic design and user-experience decisions, ensuring a unified vision and aesthetic within a product.
  • Provide visual, strategic, and organizational recommendations, acting as a design resource for clients and the internal team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in UX/UI design.
  • Advanced understanding of UX best practices and design principles.
  • Expert understanding of the website design and development process, including HTML/CSS, taxonomies, and content types.
  • Excellent knowledge of UX/UI best practices and experience with user interface design patterns, UCD methodologies, and common UX challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of design and prototyping tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Illustration skills are a plus.
  • Strong interest in global affairs and public policy is a plus.
