Job Summary

UTMB Health seeks a skilled Optometrist, Sr. to provide eye care services to patients. The ideal candidate will have a Doctor of Optometry degree and one year of direct patient contact experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform eye examinations to diagnose vision problems and pathological conditions of the eye.
  • Test patients' visual acuity, depth, and color perception, and the ability to focus and coordinate the eyes.
  • Prescribe and fit eye glasses and contact lenses.
  • Refer patients to UTMB physicians as appropriate.
  • Adjust and repair broken glasses.
  • Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry degree.
  • One year of direct patient contact experience.
  • Texas Optometrist License.

Work Environment

The work environment is located within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required, and pre-employment drug testing is also required.
