Job Summary

AdvantEdge Technology is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to support the Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) as an Auxiliary Systems Technician and Mechanical Assistant. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, as well as excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the SDTS as an Auxiliary Systems Technician, responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Work independently to complete onboard maintenance requirements, using electronic test equipment and troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with the ship's crew to ensure safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Conduct regular inspections and testing to identify potential issues and prevent equipment failure.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior personnel, promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as electrical engineering or mechanical engineering, and 7-9 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Experience with York and Carrier air conditioning units, 100 tons or more, and auxiliary equipment, including HPAC, LPAC, hydraulic units, and refrigeration equipment.
  • EPA Universal Certificate required.
  • Ability to use electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters and oscilloscopes, for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to read and understand EOSS procedures and troubleshoot electrical equipment to determine root cause failure modes.
  • Experience and competence in US Navy Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
  • Ability to support overnight underway evolutions, including regular housekeeping and cleaning.
  • Ability to take log readings and stand underway watches.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to create reports and documents.
  • Ability to pass shipboard firefighting certification and serve on the ship's Damage Control Fire Party.
  • Valid driver's license with own transportation.
  • No criminal record and ability to satisfactorily complete background check.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, perform and complete tasks with limited guidance.
  • Able to follow company policies and procedures.
  • Able to write, speak, and understand English and able to write clear, detailed reports.
Preferred Skills
  • Shipboard Fire Fighting Training
  • Any Auxiliaries type 'C' School
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb up and down shipboard vertical ladders.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pass Shipboard Fire Party School.
  • Ability to get underway to support mission operations.
