As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Cleveland Clinic, you will deliver outstanding patient care to a wide range of individuals under the supervision of registered nurses, physicians, optometrists, and/or podiatrists.

An LPN in this position is adept at performing patient care tasks, documenting care provided, administering medications, monitoring patients' health, and managing medical supplies and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Gather assessment data for assigned patients, considering age-specific physical and psychological factors.
  • Collaborate with registered nurses to develop care plans for assigned patients.
  • Deliver direct patient care as outlined in the individualized care plan.
  • Document procedures performed and care provided, assessing the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Report any changes in patients' conditions to the registered nurse promptly.
  • Reinforce educational efforts for patients and their families.
  • Administer medications safely and accurately, adhering to established protocols.
  • Monitor IV therapy and report any concerns to the registered nurse.
  • Perform procedures as directed by the registered nurse, following hospital policies.
  • Maintain composure during emergency situations.
  • Complete assignments based on patient care priorities.
  • Adapt to changes in workload or patient needs.
  • Communicate relevant information during shift changes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and participate in drills.
  • Take accountability for patient care assignments and seek guidance when necessary.
  • Assist team members in providing patient care and related activities.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives as directed.
  • Engage in ongoing education and training sessions.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Current licensure to practice as a practical nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Drug certification from an approved program.

Work Environment:

Maintain competencies specific to the patient population served and complete all required training and competencies as mandated.
