Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician

**Job Summary:**

University Hospital, Newark NJ is seeking a highly skilled Emergency Medical Technician to join our team. As an EMT, you will provide pre-hospital Basic Life Support (BLS) in all weather conditions, working in concert with other EMS employees and under the supervision of an EMS Supervisor.

**Responsibilities:**

* Provide BLS to patients of all ages and from all populations who experience serious illness or injury
* Assess, treat, lift, and move patients to the transport vehicle
* Transport patients to an appropriate medical facility
* Complete all required documentation and other assigned duties supporting efficient EMS operations
* Represent UH and EMS in a positive and professional manner

**Requirements:**

* 2 years EMS experience and 2 years of EMS driving experience with a good driving record
* Completion of the Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) training course
* Possession of a valid Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) provider card
* Ability to pass a medical evaluation and a respirator fit test
* Bi-lingual English/Spanish skills preferred
* Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred

**Physical Demands:**

* Must be in excellent physical condition
* Able to work in all weather and environmental conditions
* Able to lift and move patients in all circumstances

**Work Environment:**

* Must be able to see, hear, smell, speak, sit, walk, lift, drive, and communicate in English both verbally and in writing
* May be required to kneel, crawl, climb, or jump in certain situations
