Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and physically fit Tree Groundsman to join our team at Mike Jones & Sons Tree Service, LLC in Akron, OH. As a Tree Groundsman, you will be responsible for performing various maintenance duties, including tree removals, pruning, and debris disposal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out all maintenance duties allocated by the Foreman, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assist Arborists with tree removals, pruning, and debris disposal, demonstrating a strong understanding of verbal and written instructions.
  • Learn techniques and the proper use of tools from senior or more experienced crew members, showcasing a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Safely use tools and equipment like chippers and chainsaws to carry out maintenance tasks, prioritizing safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure all sites are kept clean and free of hazards, maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Inspect equipment and tools, performing repairs and maintenance when required, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report any issues or safety hazards to the Foreman or other relevant parties, promoting a culture of open communication.
  • Adhere to company and environmental regulations at all times, upholding the highest standards of ethics and responsibility.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED, demonstrating a strong foundation in education.
  • Previous work experience as a tree groundsman or similar, showcasing a proven track record of success.
  • Good physical strength, fitness, vision, and hearing, essential for performing the demands of the job.
  • The ability to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and stoop, requiring a high level of physical agility.
  • The ability to transport heavy items, necessitating strong physical capabilities.
  • Excellent balance and depth perception, crucial for navigating challenging work environments.
  • Superb communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and clients.
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions, demonstrating a high level of adaptability and responsiveness.
  • The willingness to work during unfavorable weather conditions, showcasing a strong commitment to the job and the company.
