Job Summary

The Fairfield Inn Ottawa Starved Rock is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the housekeeping department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests, ensuring a safe and clean environment, and promoting a positive and productive work culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and inspect the daily cleaning of guest rooms and public areas to ensure high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Respond to guest requests, concerns, and problems in a timely and professional manner to ensure guest satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Supervise rotational and special cleaning projects to maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization throughout the hotel.
  • Ensure compliance with health and sanitation standards and regulations to maintain a safe and healthy environment for guests and staff.
  • Refer and follow-up on maintenance issues with the engineering team to ensure prompt resolution and minimize disruptions.
  • Foster a cooperative working climate that promotes maximum employee morale and productivity.
  • Log items into the lost and found and answer inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Customer Service and Guest Satisfaction
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and proper uniform to represent the hotel in a professional and positive manner.
  • Greet guests, visitors, and team members in a courteous and friendly manner to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Assist guests and team members with anything they may need in a prompt and professional manner.
Safety and Security
  • Be proficient and train all team members in Safety and Security Policies to ensure a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.
  • Report any suspicious activity of guests, visitors, or staff to management in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain security for guests and property by keeping room doors locked and secure.
  • Write up Guest Incident reports as needed to document and address any incidents or concerns.
Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements
  • Physically and visually able to utilize a computer keyboard, printer, and basic office supplies to perform job duties.
  • Firm and simple grasping is an ongoing requirement for all aspects of work.
  • Lifting of supplies occurs occasionally, usually not more than 25 lbs. but may be up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time through the work day.
  • Reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting of body at the waist, and bending are required to perform job duties.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent years of relevant work experience required.
  • Previous Housekeeping or hotel experience required.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of the housekeeping field.
  • Requires supervision/management skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish is highly recommended.
  • Excellent vision necessary for constant walkthrough checks and to analyze reports.
  • Friendly demeanor, and excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Prior computer experience using windows-based software preferred.
