Position Summary

The Junior Accountant is responsible for performing intricate accounting tasks, including managing accounts payable, overseeing payroll processes, and executing various administrative duties. This role requires a proactive approach, independent decision-making, and a commitment to confidentiality and discretion, ensuring all actions align with established company policies.

This position reports directly to the VP of Finance / CFO.

Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, the individual must successfully perform the following essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  1. Manage the processing of invoices for accounts payable, ensuring accuracy in payment requests and documentation; verify invoices against purchase orders and provide necessary records for audits.
  2. Administer bi-weekly payroll, including verification of hours, rates, and deductions; ensure accuracy in direct deposits and maintain employee leave balances; prepare and submit payroll taxes electronically.
  3. Maintain the payroll database in compliance with federal and state regulations; prepare payroll tax reports and ensure accurate entries in the general ledger.
  4. Oversee vendor management, including maintaining accurate vendor files, processing Form 1099 submissions, and ensuring timely payments.
  5. Investigate and resolve technical issues related to accounts payable software; implement upgrades and provide staff training as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Associate's Degree in Accounting with relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field, with three years of experience in payroll and accounts payable.

Special Requirements: Valid state identification or driver's license.
