Facility Maintenance Specialist - Clark Family Branch

The Clark Family Branch is in search of a dedicated Facility Maintenance Specialist to undertake a variety of cleaning tasks aimed at preserving the cleanliness and appealing look of the Library premises, both inside and out.

The St. Louis County Library is committed to offering resources and services that enrich individual intellects, enhance lives, and broaden perspectives. As an award-winning library system, we serve over 860,000 patrons through our numerous branches across St. Louis County, providing updated facilities and a diverse range of programs and partnerships.

Salary: $33,132.00

Working Hours:

Monday - Friday: 12:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

One Sunday per month

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Dusts and cleans tables, counters, various furniture, and shelving units, while disposing of trash from public service areas using suitable cleaning agents to ensure a hygienic environment.
  2. Maintains flooring to guarantee a clean and safe atmosphere with an orderly appearance.
  3. Sanitizes restrooms to ensure a tidy and hygienic environment for both customers and staff.
  4. Maintains cleanliness in staff work areas and break rooms to provide a neat working environment.
  5. Oversees outdoor areas to ensure a safe, tidy, and appealing environment.
  6. Engages in periodic cleaning projects, including deep cleaning, and other assigned tasks to create an inviting, clean, and secure environment for both staff and patrons.
  7. Assists in preparing meeting rooms for Library events and external meetings.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of one year of custodial experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality public service to Library patrons and colleagues.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Capability to stand and reach on an 8 ft. ladder.

  • Ability to bend to access low shelves or reach high shelves within the Library.
  • Proficiency in using a computer, word processing software, and email.
