ZTEX Construction is a reputable heavy civil contractor focusing on earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and comprehensive project management. We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic who is knowledgeable, energetic, proactive, and eager to learn and grow within our organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are essential and may be supplemented as necessary:
- Conduct maintenance and repair tasks on various heavy machinery, including but not limited to trucks, bulldozers, cranes, excavators, and backhoes.
- Diagnose, service, and repair systems found in heavy equipment, such as hydraulic systems, mechanical controls, and air brake systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.
- Service and maintain track drive components, hydraulic systems, and engine systems.
- Perform routine checks and adjustments on fluid levels, brakes, tires, and clutches; change filters and lubricate machinery.
- Overhaul engines and rebuild essential components as needed.
- Maintain service logs and records of maintenance activities using fleet management software.
- Prepare work orders and estimate costs for materials.
- Ensure tools and work areas are kept clean and organized.
- May assist in training junior mechanics in repair techniques.
- Conduct road tests on vehicles to ensure proper functionality.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate's degree in Heavy Duty Equipment Repair preferred.
- Certification in Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics is advantageous.
- Experience may substitute for educational requirements.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues effectively.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights safely.
- Physical stamina to perform the duties required of the position.
Work conditions may vary from a climate-controlled office to an open garage with fluctuating temperatures. Exposure to noise levels may range from moderate to loud.
