Overview of the Role at El Rio Health

The primary objective of the IT EPIC Principal Trainer is to uphold El Rio's commitment to delivering comprehensive, quality healthcare that is both affordable and accessible to all individuals with healthcare needs. This role encompasses a variety of essential functions aimed at achieving this mission.



Key Responsibilities:


Develop and implement curriculum tailored to employee roles and job functions, including classroom activities, competency evaluations, and online learning modules utilizing diverse software tools and applications.

Facilitate training sessions for

EPIC:
which includes onboarding new staff, ongoing education, upgrade training, and remedial training.
Oversee the creation, development, and maintenance of instructional materials.
Utilize appropriate tools to document workflows and create presentations for broader audiences.

Take responsibility for the maintenance and enhancement of the Epic training environments, providing support and troubleshooting for any application and technical challenges.

Acquire new knowledge and develop expertise in specific subjects to improve training materials and address new user requirements.
Engage in workflow integration, integrated testing, and system validation during upgrades and new projects.
Collaborate with analysts on application content modifications and new features, formulating effective training strategies.

Train and credential additional classroom trainers as necessary, while also instructing staff and end users on technical topics as required.

Manage projects by prioritizing tasks and adhering to timelines from requirements gathering to implementation.

Responsible for creating workflow diagrams, drafting training scope documents, and developing training content for all new EPIC functionalities, including upgrades and new initiatives.


Ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all policies and procedures, including but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand hygiene, and infection prevention protocols.

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of and proficiency in applying all compliance and reporting requirements related to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Three (3) years of experience in an ambulatory care setting with practice management and EHR systems.
Three (3) years of experience in a training or educational environment.


Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, provided they are directly related to the job's functions and responsibilities.



Required Certifications and Licenses:
EPIC Principal Training role-based certifications

Level I fingerprint clearance card:
must be current and valid or applied for within seven working days of employment commencement.

Employees in this role may need reliable transportation to accommodate operational reassignments during work hours.

If driving during work hours, employees must possess a valid driver's license and comply with Arizona vehicle insurance regulations.


El Rio EPIC Trainer positions necessitate Epic certification specific to roles, including Ambulatory, Cadence, HIM, third-party applications, and other El Rio Epic applications.

Candidates meeting minimum qualifications but lacking Epic certification must obtain the required certification within 90 days of starting. A one-time probationary extension of 30 days may be granted with approval from IT Management and Human Resources.

Failure to achieve certification within this timeframe will result in ineligibility to remain in the position, with options to seek other opportunities within the organization or resign.



Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of healthcare operations and technology
Familiarity with clinical workflows and terminology
Experience with Visio and MS Project
Proficiency in video and document creation and editing software
Five (5) years of experience in an ambulatory care environment with practice management and EHR systems.
Five (5) years of experience in a training or educational setting
Five (5) years of experience in electronic health record training
Bilingual (English/Spanish) with proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in both languages.
