Job Summary

The CT Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. This role operates CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency, including scanner, post-processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport, and patient monitoring equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient, referring and questioning orders to the Radiologist as necessary.
  • Properly identifies and assists patients, offering a brief explanation of the procedures and preparing them for the exam with a full explanation and documentation on appropriate worksheets.
  • Interviews patients for a complete medical history, reviewing in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history and recording medical history on requisitions.
  • Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion, preparing and administering IV contrast according to departmental protocols and evaluating the technical quality of images.
  • Recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes additional images, measurements, and/or reconstructed images as instructed, performing basic patient care functions and informing nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Performs CT scanning and assists Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures, practicing proper sterile technique and adhering to radiation safety standards.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • ARRT certification in Radiology or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine and advanced registry from the ARRT in CT scanning within one year of hire.
  • Current CPR certification.
Working Conditions

This role requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies, with occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation. The employee may be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day, including walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, and being near moving equipment.
