Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Stamford Health. As a critical care specialist, you will provide expert care to patients with cardio-pulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing, treating, and managing patients in critical care areas, as well as assisting in the orientation of new respiratory therapists. You will also be responsible for initiating and conducting therapeutic procedures, maintaining patient records, and selecting, assembling, checking, and operating equipment. As a clinical expert, you will be delegated charge responsibilities when a Clinical Coordinator is not on duty.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients receiving respiratory therapy daily to determine effectiveness and appropriateness, and verify patients are receiving prescribed therapy.
  • Assume charge responsibilities in accordance with departmental needs, recognizing the importance of minimum staffing requirements and making every attempt to meet them.
  • Perform patient education and training to ensure effective self-therapy after discharge and promote preventive measures.
  • Access clinical data, accurately document in the patient medical record using computerized information systems, and demonstrate proficiency in the use of all equipment used by the department.
  • Maintain clinical expertise by attending continuing education classes, respiratory seminars, meetings, and self-improvement programs as appropriate and required.
Qualifications
  • Graduated from an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Hold a current Connecticut State license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Maintain certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support according to the American Heart Association, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
