About the Role

R&K Enterprise Solutions Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Patient Safety Specialist to join our team. As a Patient Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of safe and effective healthcare services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Implement Patient Safety Programs: Design, implement, and coordinate patient safety programs that support and advance the strategic healthcare safety and reliability objectives of our clients.
  2. Provide Expertise and Guidance: Serve as a subject matter expert resource in patient safety and provide advice to all levels of personnel to ensure proper implementation of patient safety programs.
  3. Develop and Analyze Reports: Develop annual patient safety program reports completed in coordination with DHA annual report requirements and analyze data from facility event reviews, CSAs, PRAs, and other sources to identify areas for improvement.
  4. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with facility functions, including Executive Committee of the Medical Staff, Nurse Executive Function, Risk Manager, Quality Manager, Performance Improvement, Infection Prevention, Facilities Management, Safety, Medical Logistics, Medical Equipment Management Office, Medical Equipment Repair Center, Information Management/Information Technology, Education and Training, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and Bioenvironmental Engineering, to identify and mitigate risks.
  5. Provide Education and Training: Develop and provide education and training programs to foster a workplace-based safety cultural transformation and educate all levels of MTF on patient safety concepts, their role in creating DHA patient safety, and processes for risk identification, assessment, and control.
  6. Support Process Improvement Activities: Provide support to the facility with process improvement activities in support of organizational safety and quality goals as it relates to patient safety.
  7. Develop and Implement Quality Improvement Projects: Develop and implement quality improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma, HPRA, or other DHA-approved methodologies to track improvement and validate performance.
  8. Provide Monthly Executive Reports: Provide monthly executive reports to MTF Commander, including information in the standardized report template and additional information as requested.
Requirements
  1. A bachelor's degree in a nursing or healthcare-related field.
  2. Four (4) years minimum experience in a healthcare-related field; military inpatient facility experience highly desired.
  3. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  4. The ability to work independently, organize time, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  5. The ability to pay attention to detail and to effectively communicate patient safety concepts to leadership and DHA staff.
  6. Experience with patient safety aspects of healthcare accreditation is highly desirable.
  7. Documented experience with performing Comprehensive Systematic Analysis (CSAs) and Proactive Risk Assessment (PRAs).
  8. Bachelor's level skills in written and oral communications, public speaking, and fostering positive interpersonal relationships.
  9. For PSS personnel with data analytic duties: basic skills in Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, Structured Query Language (SQL), related databases, and visual report design tools.
  10. The ability to work collaboratively with Risk Manager (RM) and Quality Manager (QM).
