Job Title: Behavioral Support Specialist at Commonwealth of Virginia

As a key member of the psychology department, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals by delivering tailored support under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Your collaboration with the personal support team and clinical services will be essential in achieving our organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals with their medication histories and ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare for psychiatric clinics and provide training to staff on effective behavioral strategies.
  • Monitor behavior support programs and facilitate adaptive skills training.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies and support individuals facing intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and related medical conditions.
  • Work closely with the Director of Psychology to train staff in executing Behavior Support Plans and enhancing service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, psychiatric disorders, and physical health needs.
  • BCaBA certification is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license in Virginia.
  • Completion of essential pre-service training, including courses in medication management, CPR, First Aid, TOVA, and behavior interaction techniques.

Additional Considerations:

  • Coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Psychology is advantageous.
