Histotechnician - Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary:
As a Histotechnician at SSM Health, you will play a critical role in preparing histologic slides for microscopic examination and diagnosis by the pathologist. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, label, process, and preserve tissue specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
- Prepare sections of tissue for immediate examination using frozen section technique.
- Operate computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate tissue specimens with wax.
- Perform embedding, cutting, and staining of tissues and pathology specimens received.
- Perform basic histology special stains using manual or automated methods.
- Maintain equipment in Histology as required.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties as needed.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- No experience required, but prior experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
Work Environment:
This position requires frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The work environment is fast-paced and requires attention to detail.
