Hearst Television is seeking an Executive Producer to oversee newscasts in a fast-paced news environment. This role requires a leader who can construct a vision for newscasts and manage a team towards that vision. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in news producing, be able to make decisions under daily pressure, and have experience with multi-platform content creation.
The successful candidate will recruit producers, work with the News Director to implement winning strategies for each newscast, and handle breaking news situations. They will also oversee a compelling product that delivers interesting content to viewers, and coach and lead their team members to improve their skills.
The responsibilities of this role include:
- Oversight of the preparation of a rundown and scripts for the newscasts
- Research, pitch, and gather enterprise news stories
- Oversight of the use of graphics resources to enhance presentation
- Managing, coaching, and motivating producers, reporters, and video journalists
- Responding to breaking news
- Oversight of digital response to breaking news and social media engagement
- Writing compelling news stories in active voice
- Booth newscasts when needed
- Posting stories and video on the station website and mobile platform
- Leading editorial meetings and pitching enterprise stories
- Performing administrative responsibilities, including scheduling, performance reviews, training, and providing feedback
The requirements for this role include:
- Three years of producing experience
- Demonstrated experience in writing and thinking visually
- Coordinating several crews and responsibilities simultaneously
- Summarizing information into easy-to-understand components
- Creative presentation style and ability to showcase all resources and elements
- Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
- Adobe Premier editing system proficiency
We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, emotional wellness support, paid time off, and LGBTQ+ health services.
