Job Summary
PULAU is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to support the Army Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations Maintenance Program (ATMP) contract at Fort Irwin, California.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all types of electrical systems, including power generation systems, emergency power systems, and transfer switches.
- Install, modify, repair, and test new and installed equipment, including secondary distribution lines and circuits.
- Test electrical circuits for resistance, current, and potential difference.
- Accurately read and follow blueprints, drawings, wiring schematics, and other layouts to determine the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment, and controls.
- Determine the size, type, and gauge of wiring, conduits, relays, and other electrical components, and effect necessary repairs and modifications.
- Perform diagnostics to electrical systems while systems are energized, and perform Lockout Tagout procedures to achieve a safe work condition.
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, assemble, install conduits, and splice wires to fixtures, outlets, switches, receptacles, and power sources.
- Test circuits and equipment using a voltmeter, amp meter, watt meter, and other electrical tools.
- Maintain and repair complex electric wiring systems, distribution panels, and outlet boxes.
- Provide management with detailed updates on system status, and locate underground utilities using a locator as required for dig permits.
- Apply knowledge of single and three-phase systems up to 480 volts, and understand and apply OSHA and CAL OSHA standards to ensure safe work conditions.
- Support quality/ISO, security, and safety training programs, and safeguard all assigned equipment issued by PULAU Corporation against loss, theft, and damage.
- Capture and record accurate and timely maintenance history, ensuring unique corrective measures for work orders and repair are annotated into the AWARE Management Information System (MIS).
- Safely operate company vehicles, navigate established range roads and trails to specific locations using basic navigation techniques, and communicate with radio systems.
- Be cross-trained to support other TADSS and may be assigned tasks to support other ATMP contract equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum of four (4) years verifiable experience in commercial and residential electrical work.
- Certificate of journeyman status from a registered labor union.
- Knowledge in the generation of electricity.
- Ability to safely perform all phases of electrical power systems maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all types of electrical power systems and power generation systems and emergency power systems.
- Working knowledge of all types of excitation systems, voltage regulating systems, load pulsing, and compensation.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and single-line diagrams.
- Experience with troubleshooting and repairing of electric motors.
- Experience with electronic speed control systems and electronic governing systems.
- Working knowledge of calibrating and troubleshooting all electronic control systems.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- SECRET Security Clearance and access permit to post by local law enforcement and security agencies.
- Ability to obtain a Government Common Access Card (CAC).
- Valid Class C license, California driver's license, and NTC Post driving privileges.
- Ability to lift a maximum of 50lbs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to read and understand manufacturers' manuals or technical documents.
- Ability to work outside in inclement weather, including desert environment heat, cold, wind, and blowing sand.
- Ability to work at height, including helicopter flights to mountain top equipment locations and elevated work areas.
- U.S. citizenship.
