Overview

We are seeking an experienced in-house lawyer to support our legal team. The ideal candidate will be a generalist with a strong background in corporate transactions, particularly in the manufacturing sector. We are looking for a confident self-starter with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills, as well as a proven ability to provide sound legal advice and work effectively with senior management, outside counsel, and vendors.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will act as the lead in-house counsel for our US battery energy storage manufacturing facilities and operations. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Advising on commercial transactions, including real estate and construction contracts, vendor agreements, and supply chain-related agreements.
  • Managing corporate housekeeping for the US battery energy storage manufacturing subsidiary.
  • Collaborating with internal and external trade compliance professionals to ensure timely importation of components and raw materials.
  • Working with internal regulatory and EHS compliance teams to develop legal policies, processes, and procedures for the US manufacturing business.
  • Providing proactive, timely, and effective legal advice and analysis on business risks.
  • Coordinating and supervising outside counsel as needed, balancing legal costs with business goals.
  • Ensuring all activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with company policies, code, and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A J.D. from a reputable law school and strong academic credentials.
  • 7+ years of legal experience, with a combination of large law firm and in-house experience preferred.
  • Experience advising manufacturing businesses, with a general corporate transactional background. Supply chain, labor and employment, real estate, and/or construction experience is a plus.
  • A demonstrated ability to provide sound legal advice, exercise good business judgment, and work effectively with senior management, outside counsel, and state and local officials.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-first attitude.
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to take ownership of matters, direct outside counsel, and drive innovation within the legal department and in concert with commercial leaders.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to meet legal and business needs.
