Senior Electrical Engineer Opportunity

Xtreme Powerline Construction Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our operational team, you will be responsible for designing electrical distribution and substation systems, creating detailed electrical schematics, diagrams, and layouts for power distribution systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical distribution and substation systems, including primary schematics, detailed overhead/underground distribution design drawings, stations single line diagrams, and more.
  • Select components and generate project bills of materials.
  • Review and approve conceptual and detailed engineering design packages for assigned substation and distribution projects.
  • Provide technical support for reviewing shop drawings for engineered equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and codes.
  • Lead projects from conception through construction and commissioning, overseeing and mentoring junior engineers and designers.
  • Collaborate with peers, other discipline engineers, and field staff to ensure accurate delivery that meets utility standards, industry standards, and owner requirements.
  • Support the preparation of proposal writeups, material and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling for responses to requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Maintain good working relationships with internal groups that support projects, including other engineering disciplines, drafting, procurement, construction, project management, and more.
  • Design coordination with customers, municipal authorities, utilities, and various project stakeholders.
  • Travel to site and liaise with customers, contractors, municipal authorities, and client representatives.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant electrical utility engineering distribution design experience.
  • Professional engineering license in the State of Michigan.
  • Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, O-Calc, SpidaCalc, Quick Pole, Polywater Pull Planner 4.0, PLS-CADD, CYMCAP, and GIS systems.
  • Understanding of generation, transmission, and distribution electrical systems.
  • Ability to demonstrate adherence to NESC and client standards in the Michigan area.
  • Experience developing design drawings for various electrical distribution utility projects, including protection and control, SCADA, pole line design, underground design, system rebuilds, voltage conversions, new connection requests, and equipment selection.
  • Experience working on large, multi-disciplinary teams is an asset.
  • Be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
