Role Summary:

In the capacity of a Senior Security Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the technical execution of our security framework, which adheres to NIST standards tailored for U.S. Federal compliance. This position is ideal for a technically adept engineer with a passion for security in the evolving landscape of quantum computing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Python (or potentially Rust or Golang) scripts to interface with various systems for data collection and analysis to enhance security monitoring and system fortification.
  • Adhere to secure software development methodologies while collaborating within an agile framework, assisting in project scoping, planning, and execution.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation, including software specifications, memos, and architectural schematics.
  • Automate processes using GitHub Actions or similar workflow tools.
  • Support the security enhancement of cloud-based, on-premise, and quantum systems.
  • Collaborate with development teams to elevate our application security posture by addressing findings from security assessment tools.
  • Engage with diverse teams across the organization, including legal, engineering, finance, operations, and supply chain.
  • Establish and document processes that facilitate secure operational practices.
  • Assist in incident response efforts as necessary.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a willingness to consider non-traditional educational backgrounds.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in security engineering or related disciplines.
  • Proficiency in Python programming, with a track record of collaborative code maintenance.
  • Familiarity with NIST standards and frameworks.
  • Experience with CIS Benchmarks and DISA STIGs.
  • Technical expertise in systems administration, software development, digital forensics, or privacy engineering.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning and a commitment to excellence.
  • Strong communication skills and empathy for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's or PhD in security, computer science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership in security initiatives.
  • Prior experience with NIST audits and FedRAMP compliance.
  • Knowledge of application security tools such as SAST and SCA.
  • Experience in integrating log data sources with monitoring solutions (SIEM).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code practices, such as Terraform.
  • Proficiency in configuration management tools like Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
  • Experience in incident response coordination.
