Job Summary

Cook County Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients and supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care Coordination
    • Collect and document accurate patient medical history and vital signs
    • Prepare patient rooms for medical visits and maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Administrative Support
    • Assist with clerical and administrative tasks, including data entry and record-keeping
    • Provide support for medical procedures and exams, including preparing patients and equipment
  • Clinical Support
    • Perform laboratory procedures and document results
    • Assist with phlebotomy services and prepare specimens for testing
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other healthcare team members
    • Participate in Joint Commission Surveys and rounds to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Requirements
  • Education and Certification
    • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience
    • Certification as a Medical Assistant through a recognized organization
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and medical terminology
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality principles
    • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
    • Flexibility and adaptability in work duties
Working Conditions

This position involves working in a medical office environment with exposure to hazards of patient care. Standard medical equipment and office-related tools are utilized.

The role requires standing, walking, and handling equipment throughout the day. Lifting and physical exertion may be necessary.

Adherence to safety requirements in a healthcare setting is essential for this role.
