The machine shop at Tesla is on the lookout for a skilled CNC Programmer/Machinist to contribute to our mission of promoting sustainable energy solutions.
Our team collaborates with engineers and technicians to deliver precision-engineered automation components and insightful expertise in machining and manufacturing processes.
We play a vital role in converting conceptual designs into real-world products, enhancing engineering projects that span from advanced vehicles to energy systems and pioneering technologies.
As a CNC Programmer/Machinist, you will be tasked with fabricating intricate and essential custom components that align with engineering objectives.
This position requires a high degree of expertise and commitment, and while the challenges are significant, you are prepared to meet them head-on.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, set up, and operate 3-axis vertical CNC Mills and/or Lathes in a dynamic, low-volume environment.
- Collaborate closely with engineers to provide essential feedback on design for manufacturability and process enhancements.
- Cut materials, create tooling, set fixtures, execute programs, deburr, and finish components.
- Machine complex parts to precise tolerances across various materials under tight deadlines.
- Utilize a range of inspection and measurement tools to ensure quality standards are met.
- Document and track machining processes and outcomes as required.
- Engage openly with engineers and team members to devise solutions and maintain proactive communication.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC mill CAM programming (Mastercam preferred).
- Ability to identify and source effective tooling and work-holding solutions.
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering drawings, documentation, and GD&T.
- Proficient in measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, and optical comparators.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment with strict deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical capabilities, and mathematical skills.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
