Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and coordinate courses in graphic design, including lectures, technique demonstrations, and one-on-one assistance with students.
  • Develop and implement curriculum in graphic design, including courses in experience design, interactivity, generative media, creative computation, motion design, coded typography, and immersive media.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students, including undergraduate and graduate students in the MFA program.
  • Participate in departmental and college service, including participation in the Graphic Design Student Office (GDSO).
Requirements
  • Master's or MFA in Graphic Design, Art and Technology, Digital Arts, Interaction/Experience Design or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated competency in working with technologies, tools, and software related to experience design, interactivity, generative media, creative computation, motion design, coded typography, and immersive media.
  • Teaching experience at the university level, which may include experience as an instructor of record.
  • An established record of creative practice in graphic design, experience design, interactive design or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to demonstrate, through their teaching philosophy or record, an ability to mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students to foster collaboration, experimentation, and innovation across departments.
  • Evidence of collaboration skills, multidisciplinary activities and maintaining professional relationships outside of the university.
About the School of Art

The School of Art at Louisiana State University is a vibrant and dynamic community of artists, designers, and scholars. We offer a range of undergraduate and graduate programs in art and design, including a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Design, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Arts in Art History, and Master of Fine Arts programs. Our graphic design concentration is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the region.

About the Position

This is a full-time, non-tenure track position that will commence in Fall 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses for entry-level to senior-level undergraduates and may have the opportunity to teach and mentor graduate students in the MFA program. The Assistant Professor of Practice will have college and departmental service responsibilities during their term, which include participation in the Graphic Design Student Office (GDSO).
