Job DescriptionOverview:
Nurse Aide in Training is a program that allows the employee to receive online and on-the-floor training as a Nurse Aide. This role is ideal for individuals who provide good customer service, are reliable, and have a strong work ethic.
Those who excel in this position will become eligible for Education Assistance to become a Certified Nurse Aide. Depending on availability and the employee's learning preferences, Education Assistance will be provided at no cost through one of the following avenues:
- Classes on or offsite at a Regency location.
- A local program offered by a community college or technical school.
- An internship and a waiver to skip the class but be able to pass a skills check and practice exam provided by the facility, that qualifies the employee to schedule for testing.
Responsibilities:
The Nurse Aide and C.N.A. will work under the direction of the Charge Nurses and will provide assigned residents with assistance for activities of daily living as outlined in the resident's customized care plan. Essential functions include:
- Providing residents with comfort and safety, including detecting and reporting situations that may cause resident accidents or injuries.
- Carrying out duties and responsibilities in accordance with resident care policy and procedure.
- Assisting in customary daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment, such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, care of hair, nails, moving residents from area to area, lifting, and transferring.
- Utilizing and logging in care provided into Electronic Medical Records system.
- Measuring and recording vital signs.
- Observing and reporting symptoms, reactions, and changes of conditions to residents to nursing staff.
- Maintaining care of equipment and supplies.
- Walking with ambulatory residents or pushing in a wheelchair as required.
- Safely performing movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting in excess of 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Answering call lights in a timely manner, trying to address the need of the resident or determine if assistance is needed from a Charge Nurse or another department.
- Providing good customer service, including tactful and appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED is highly preferred. Experience as a caregiver is preferred. Good communication skills are essential for success in this role.
