Job Title: Social Worker - Hernando County Sheriff's Office

We are seeking a highly skilled Social Worker to join our team at the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for providing social work services to inmates within the Detention Center.

Your primary focus will be to mitigate inmate tension, improve inmate attitudes toward incarceration, and assist inmates in their transition back into the community. You will work closely with the Director of Medical Services to ensure that inmates receive the necessary support and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mental health assessments and provide crisis intervention services
  • Document all services rendered or ordered for inmates in the electronic health record
  • Coordinate and facilitate mental health telephonic/video hearings and meetings
  • Make referrals to other medical/mental health staff as needed
  • Provide PREA inmate education through groups or cell-side

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field
  • Two years of experience in a correctional environment or related case management
  • Knowledge of social work theory and practice, crisis intervention, and advanced communication skills
