Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Solar Energy Technician to join our team. As a Solar Energy Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring solar and energy storage farms, ensuring mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed to maintain established safety and operating targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and Maintain Solar and Energy Storage Farms
    • Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV and battery storage electrical equipment
    • Ensure that all assigned maintenance tasks are performed safely and by site operating procedures established for Storage/Solar PV sites
  • Perform Maintenance and Repairs
    • Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSAs, Permit to Work, and job-specific documentation that is required to conduct maintenance and repairs in a safe manner
    • Proactively look for improvement opportunities to job appropriate processes and procedures
  • Collect and Analyze Data
    • Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with Team Members
    • Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriate
    • Interface with any 3rd party contractors working at our facilities
  • Work in a Fast-Paced Environment
    • Available to respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including emergent abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, resolution of O&M issues

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Associate degree in engineering or related Science from an accredited US school other than correspondence or internet preferred
    • Minimum 2 years of work experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, and distribution. Preference will be given to the candidate with some renewable energy experience, preferably solar and battery storage
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Unrestricted driver license in good standing
    • Willing to relocate to within 1 hour drive of site
    • Must be skilled in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; substations maintenance; power plant safety protocols
    • Work in extreme weather conditions
    • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work day
    • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
    • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
    • Ability to work within tight deadlines
    • Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs.
    • Routine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machineries, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
    • Frequent oral and written communications
    • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
    • Complete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe
    • First aid/CPR/AED
    • OSHA Certified
    • Shift work
