The Environmental Services Housekeeper is responsible for the thorough cleaning, upkeep, and supply of designated patient and non-patient areas in accordance with the department's established protocols. This role involves the use of mechanical equipment, tools, chemical solutions, and cleaning supplies to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. The position requires setting up meeting spaces and private dining areas while adhering to safety regulations. It is essential to maintain all cleaning equipment in optimal condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cleaning solutions and gather housekeeping supplies and equipment to perform assigned cleaning tasks.
- Dust and clean various surfaces including furniture, windowsills, light fixtures, vents, and other areas prone to dust accumulation.
- Sanitize bathrooms, fixtures, and surfaces, ensuring the replenishment of soap and paper supplies as needed.
- Disinfect patient rooms, furniture, and equipment using appropriate germicidal solutions.
- Manage the installation and removal of cubicle curtains and drapes, as well as moving furniture and equipment as required.
- Conduct spot cleaning of windows, walls, and carpets, including vacuuming of carpets and upholstered items.
- Address spills promptly and maintain cleanliness as per requests.
- Adhere to established cleaning procedures and safety protocols during all tasks.
- Utilize various cleaning equipment safely and maintain them according to guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and JCAHO standards.
- Follow proper practices for the storage, labeling, and disposal of cleaning chemicals.
- Dispose of waste materials responsibly, including regular, recyclable, and medical waste, while wearing appropriate protective gear.
- Report any safety hazards, including leaks or damaged furniture.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Prior experience in institutional cleaning is preferred.
