Job Overview

In this role, you will oversee the preconstruction and estimating efforts for Thornton Construction Company, a leading construction management firm with over 25 years of experience. Our team specializes in delivering top-quality institutional, commercial, and residential projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Manage an extensive pipeline of diverse projects, from conceptual to completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality results.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise a team of estimators and pre-construction coordinators, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure excellent performance and growth.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare and analyze cost models during the preconstruction phase, utilizing expertise in various construction methods and installation procedures.
  • Business Development: Foster relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors to secure new projects and expand our market presence.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with the operations team to implement Lean and virtual design and construction (VDC) best practices, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in estimating, with at least 5 years as a Preconstruction Director or Chief Estimator working with a General Contractor.
  • Skill Set: Expertise in cost estimating and analysis, RFP/Q preparation and analysis, knowledge of construction methods, purchasing, contract negotiations, presentations, and personnel management.
  • Technology Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software platforms, such as Timberline and On-Screen Takeoff.
Compensation Package

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
