The role of a Mechanical Maintenance Specialist is crucial in driving a culture of continuous improvement within our organization through effective troubleshooting and the implementation of predictive and preventative maintenance techniques.
As an integral member of our high-performing team, you will prioritize safety while operating various machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and repair industrial machinery, including conveyor systems and major equipment such as debarkers, canters, gang saws, and edgers.
Interpret and comprehend technical drawings and printed guidelines.
Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work safely in high-pressure environments.
Possess a foundational understanding of pump alignments, sheaves, sprockets, and machine centers.
Utilize hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks to maneuver machinery and equipment.
Adjust tension on nuts and bolts or position components using hand tools and measuring devices to ensure specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
Align machinery and equipment with the aid of hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb tools.
Assemble and install machinery using both hand and power tools.
Measure and lay out mounting holes, utilizing measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drills.
Replace faulty components or adjust the alignment and clearances of moving parts.
Level bedplates and establish centerlines using straightedges, levels, and transits.
Dismantle machinery using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
Attach moving parts and subassemblies to the main assembly unit using hand and power tools.
Qualifications for Success:
Experience with cutting torches (Oxygen/Acetylene) is required.
Welding experience (GMAW and SMAW) is essential.
Must prioritize safety and adhere to all company regulations.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and be on-call to support 24/7 operations.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Millwright role within an industrial or manufacturing setting is necessary.
A High School Diploma or GED is required.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and background check is mandatory.
Willingness to travel and complete the West Fraser Qualified Millwright training program is essential.
Candidates must be able to pass a Millwright Assessment Test.
