Position Overview
Role Purpose and Responsibilities: The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering Industrial Technology courses and conducting laboratory sessions as designated by the department chair of the Industrial Technology department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitates assigned theoretical and practical classes, designing daily activities for students in both theory and lab settings. Oversees student performance for theoretical and technical project assessments.
- Instructs and assesses students in a hands-on environment, focusing on industrial maintenance practices, including shop safety protocols.
- Ensures a secure working environment and upholds Ranken's safety regulations.
- Assists in the upkeep of laboratory and classroom apparatus.
- Collaborates with management in curriculum development, syllabus creation, scheduling, budgeting, hiring, and other administrative tasks.
- Engages in college governance, committee participation, student advising, and related activities.
- Participates in professional development opportunities to stay updated in the field of Industrial Technology.
- Contributes to maintaining compliance with industry standards.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by authorized personnel.
- Educational Background and Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology or a related engineering discipline.
- A minimum of three years of experience in industrial technology.
- Preferred experience in teaching at a community college or technical institution.
- Strong presentation abilities, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to inspire students from diverse backgrounds and varying learning styles.
- Proficient in assembling, repairing, and troubleshooting hydraulic systems.
- Ability to interpret hydraulic schematics and technical drawings.
- Mechanically adept with experience in repairing industrial machinery.
- Basic skills in maintaining motor control circuits, control relays, motor starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- EPA certification is preferred.
