Interventional Radiology Specialist

About the Role:
KurzSolutions is seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team. As an Interventional Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of complex physiological and radiological procedures ordered by and/or in collaboration with physicians or cardiology fellows without direct supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Complete special procedure radiographic exams for patients, including cardiac catheterizations, percutaneous coronary interventions, coronary stent placement, coronary atherectomy, coronary flow evaluation, fluoroscopic imaging, intravascular coronary ultrasound, electrophysiology testing, and radiofrequency ablation.
- Knowledge of radiation techniques and protection standards for the proper use, quality control, and preventative maintenance of single and biplane x-ray systems, contrast injectors, image management systems, recording, duplicating analysis, playback equipment for angiography and angioplasty procedures.
- Must be alert and recognize changes in the patient's condition, including emergencies, which may necessitate immediate intervention.
- Observe the patient's condition, making notation of pertinent information, vital signs, and other clinical information in accordance with established practices and in response to physician demand or changes in the patient's condition.
- Recognize serious patient abnormalities and individualize each procedure to the needs of the situation to produce reliable results.
- Make adjustments to equipment, including frame rates, exposure time, kV, mAs settings, shutter openings, cardiac shielding, magnification factors, source intensifier distance to decrease radiation exposure.
- Perform proper calibrations on pressure transducers to maintain the accuracy of arterial and venous pressure tracings.
- Prepare patients for angiographic, angioplasty, Swan Ganz placement, and temporary pacemaker placement procedures and preparation of A-line setups adhering to aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Perform duties in the Cardiac Catheterization Suite during procedures such as diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, balloon angioplasties, and electrophysiology studies.
- Use equipment to obtain physiologic measurements, including cardiac pressure transducers, thermodilution cardiac output computers, blood gas oximeters, and oxygen consumption computers.
- Operate medical equipment, including video equipment, CD archiving systems, ECHO archiving systems, contrast media injectors, EKG recorders, pressure transducers, intra-aortic balloon pumps, intravascular ultrasound machines, flow wires, rotoblator units, dash portable monitors, EP Med monitoring stations, EP mapping units, oxygen equipment, suction equipment, CD recording units, defibrillators, Bovie cautery units, power injectors, and Acuson TEE units.
Requirements:
- Shall have a full, unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States of the District of Columbia.
- Must have a minimum of five years relevant clinical experience and a minimum of one year of general radiology in a level 1 hospital setting and proven clinical work experience within the past 12 months.
- Prior VA experience is desirable.
- Must be a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist and/or Registered Radiologic Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologist Technologists (ARRT) and/or American Society of Radiologist Technologists (ASRT).
- Must have current and active experience in Electrophysiology Procedures in a Cardiac Catheterization Suite.
